405 Method Not Allowed

method_not_allowed — Method not allowed

Message “The request could not be completed.”

What causes it

  • The HTTP method is not one the API accepts. In practice the web server refuses an unknown verb such as `FOO` first, with a plain-text `501 Not Implemented` and no envelope, so this code is rare. A known verb that the path does not implement (for example `DELETE /workflows`) answers `404 not_found` instead.

How to fix it

  1. Use the method shown on the operation's reference page. Retries and cancels are `POST`, updates are `PATCH` (or `PUT` for webhook subscriptions), deletes are `DELETE`.

Operations that return it

Any operation can return this code.

See the API reference for the full list of operations.
